“Burton, thank you for these….hate to blow smoke up your hula skirt, but I’m only 3/4 of the way through disc 1 of the Battlefield Kali single stick program and I’ve already learned more real-world application and reasoning than I have in all the stick seminars I’ve attended. Congrats on an excellent piece of work.”

“I think the Battlefield Kali single stick DVDs are great. Especially the way you’ve laid them out. Breaking things down. It gives me a format for teaching students.
Honestly, I think someone could start from complete scratch with the Battlefield Kali single stick DVDs and in a short time be kicking ass!”
“I have just finished watching your ‘Battlefield Kali single stick DVDs. I have to say they are the best stick fighting instructionals I have ever seen (and I have seen a lot!). I have your ‘high performance weaponry’ tape and it is great to see how your techniques and teaching have evolved. I can absolutely see how the sparring games and methods you have developed will lead to continual evolution and improvement- since you create an environment which is safe, but encourages realistic techniques.
The clinch and ground stuff was new to me: A lot of things that ring true and are very obvious when you point them out- but I would probably not have thought of them myself!! I am still a novice at BJJ but the combination of stick and grappling is a whole new game that I am looking forward to! I checked out the testing and sparring requirements on your website. Excellent! Clear, well thought out and easily testable.”

“I just wanted to let you and Burton know that I received the Battlefield Kali single stick DVD on Friday and Lee and I have already began to log our hand sparring rounds on Saturday. I only watched the first DVD so far but it is everything I expected and more.
On a side note, I have been telling escrima people for years that a lot of what they were teaching just did not work in full speed sparring. I went so far as to take padded sticks out and ask them to try to check my hand or do a disarm or what ever when I swung the stick full speed. No one could. I was so very happy to see someone of Burton’s stature saying the same thing that I have been saying. I feel like I have been exonerated for questioning what I truly believe was more “Show” than “Go” in some of the Kali/Escrima training I have had. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for that.”

“I’m really, really enjoying the Battlefield Kali single stick program. I had a few questions:
1) Are the rattan sticks you sell on your site pretty heavy? I’m having a hard time finding sticks that aren’t extremely light. As you point out in the DVDs it’s a bad idea to train with really light sticks so I’m on the hunt for heavier ones.
2) I’m just curious if you know when the Battlefield Knife and Choke programs will be available? I’m looking forward to both.
Thanks for a great product!

“Burton Richardson´s Battlefield Kali single stick DVD´s are the best set of high percentage moves for single stickfighting . He shows in detail not only the most important techniques you need, but also the training methods belonging to it. So, step by step you are increasing the fighting skills against a resisting opponent. The DVDs answered my expectations more than awaited and deserve the labeling as instructional DVDs rightly. If you train that way, you can´t miss the point in becoming functional in all the ranges of full contact stickfighting.
Thank you very much Burton, you´ve done an outstanding job with these DVD´s.”

“I am highly impressed by the quality and quantity of information in the Battlefield Kali single stick dvds. The sets contain many minute details that Burton has compiled due to the sacrifices of past generations into a fully functional system that is complete in all ranges due to his strict adherence to the scientific method. As a fighter there are so many minute details that we learn but sometimes gloss over. Viewing and Revisiting these dvds then going through them with a notebook in hand is a great help and will help me focus on burning in quality reps making every movement count. Posture, footwork, etc. The requirements for Battlefield Kali of first Fighting Ability insure the quality of people coming out of this program. The Technical Precision and Power generation portions insure one develops the multiple facets necessary for a complete fighter in all ranges. Like Brazilian jiujitsu, Battlefield Kali insures the quality of effectiveness by requiring all to prove the techniques work by putting in countless rounds of sparring. What makes Battlefield Kali effective is the clear instruction, scaled program and fighting requirements. The Battlefield Kali dvd sets are “All Fight and No Fluff”.”

“J’ai eu l’occasion de vous voir a l’oeuvre à l’université de La Réunion
J’aime votre approche du combat ;la façon dont vous l’abordez.
J’ai lu les articles que vous avez écrits pour le magazine BUDO et je me permets de vous dire que si plus de professeurs d’arts martiaux appliquaient les memes concepts et avaient la meme vision il y aurait beaucoup plus de pratiquants aguerris et efficaces.”

I think the DVDs are great. I’m loving working through the Battlefield Kali single stick program and it really is exactly what I was looking for. I love that there is no time wasted on fluff. Who has time for fluff when we want to become functional in all the ranges with and without weapons? I have trained and dabbled in various weapons systems with various people and some of it was very practical while some of it was not. Your Battlefield Kali single stick program is great and I really look forward to my next trip to Hawaii to get a stack of training in with you guys.”
